Thought denied at first, it looks like the rumor that Michael Dunlop will ride a BMW HP4 in the 2014 Isle of Man TT was true, after all.
Dunlop made an official announcement on his Facebook page: "Finally glad to announce that I am now a factory BMW rider for the 2014 season."

He will take part in the Superstock TT under the colors of his own MD Racing Team, and will dress up in the BMW Motorrad livery for the two Superbike class races.

Michael Dunlop will be aboard a BMW HP4 in the Superstock TT and will ride and S1000RR in the other races.

BMW/ Hakw racing will be joined by the Buildbase BMW Motorrad BSB team and the goal is to replicate the success of Georg Meier's 1939 win in the Senior TT, the initial Isle of Man victory for the Bavarian manufacturer.

“I’m really pleased to have signed for such a strong and competitive team. The BMW S 1000 RR certainly has the speed for the TT and, with my experience, the support from BMW Motorrad Motorsport and Hawk Racing, I know we have a race-winning package.

I really thought about sitting out this year, but I have found a team that I am really comfortable with and the support from BMW Motorrad Motorsport will make us a force to be reckoned with this year," Michael told iomtt.com
