Hacking and sawing through one of the latest, long-expected bikes in the industry may sound like blasphemy to some, but if you ask Roland Sands about this he’d most likely laugh: “we’re already doing this, and yes, it’s going to be amazing!” And these are not empty words, as RSD is actually working on their own version of the Indian flagship, the 2014 Chieftain.
Believe it or not, Roland Sands and his crew started to tear down a brand-new Chieftain… down to nuts and bolts, save the engine. They’re rebuilding a whole new bike which is said to be part bard tracker, part café racer and part dragster, with a very strong 1920’s flavor.
Apparently the whole thing was started by the Holographic Hammer and one of his Indian renderings. Roland Sands immediately picked up the idea and after some time spent looking for a customer, it seems like things are on their way.
The RSD Indian Chieftain will be low, fast, powerful and… functional. Sands says the bike will have a hardtail design complemented by a leaf suspension in the front for an era-correct attire. RSD’s take on the 2014 Indian Chieftain will also result in a bike with half the weight of the original version and with some engine tweaking, few extra horsepower will also be added for even more road terror-factor.
The project is developing as you read this piece and we can’t wait to bring you photos of the finished Roland Sands Indian Chieftain when it will burn the asphalt down the road for the first time.
