The 2014 Hyundai Elantra, also known as the Avante in South Korea, was unveiled this week with restyled body details, an updated interior and a new diesel engine.
As far as the exterior is concerned, the facelifted Elantra, which is 20 mm longer than the outgoing model, will arrive with updated LED headlamps and taillights, redesigned bumpers and restyled 17-inch wheels. Inside, Hyundai added ventilated seats and a 3.5-inch OLED display, while the center air vent and the front center armrest have been repositioned.
Under the hood, the 2014 Elantra/Avante receives a 1.6-liter diesel engine, also fitted to the European i30, that delivers 126 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque. The unit will be mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and will benefit of the company’s Idle Stop & Technology. The gasoline lineup will be carried over from the 2013 model.
Although Hyundai has yet to confirm, the diesel 2014 Elantra is likely to become available in Europe as well.
