The 2014 Honda Odyssey has become the first minivan to earn the Top Safety Pick+ designation awarded by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Updated for the 2014 model year with advanced high-strength steel inserts in the front door frames, floor pan and front wheel wells and new side curtain airbags that extend farther forward, the revised Honda Odyssey earned “Good” ratings in all five crash categories, including the small overlap front test.
"Safety is high on the list for parents when it comes to shopping for a family vehicle," says IIHS president Adrian Lund. "Consumers look for models with the highest safety ratings. Honda is ahead of many of its competitors in building state-of-the-art crashworthiness into its vehicles."
On sale since July 2, the 2014 Honda Odyssey can be ordered with prices from $28,825 plus an $830 destination fee. The minivan is powered by the company’s familiar 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 248 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque.
