2014 Honda Civic Si Coupe Is Well Worth $23,000

The Honda Civic Si name is pretty much synonymous with the compact sports boom from the 90s, when Hondas were seemingly on every corner. The ricer cult has gone down quite a lot and Ford's Focus ST is a killer hot hatch you can buy for roughly the same money, but that's only prompted Honda to make an even Si, which arrives for the 2014 model year.

We really liked this next owner-style review from SubaruWRXfan because it tell you everything you need to know if you about the car and can't find out from the major publications' reviews. After all, can you really trust somebody who drives Ferraris all the time to be objective about a Honda?

First thing we learned is that Honda's gimmicky features are really cool for younger buyers. The 2014 model year Si comes standard with a red button to start the engine. The dash is about the same, but you do get a camera in the right mirror that's great for blind spots when you want to rejoin the slow lane or make a turn. Mechanically, the 2014 model year gains 4 extra horsepower from a new exhaust and has stiffer anti-roll bars. The car isn't as powerful as the Ford Focus ST, but Honda fans will not be put off by the deficit.

Perfect Civic? No, not really. The new touchscreen is really annoying because it lacks feedback. It's supposedly got really bad glare from the passenger side which is another problem. But, we have a 7,000 rpm red line and an engine that sounds better and better with every increment of needle. Yeah, this one is for the VTEC fans!

If you plan on getting the new Civic Si model year or have already bought one, let us know what it's like to live with.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
