The NHTSA announces that at least 436 Harley-Davidson MY 2014 trikes are subject to a recall because of an incorrectly-made parts which affects the steering angle.
Namely, this part allows an excessive steering angle which can damage the braking system. The inner fairing may come in contact with the rear brake fluid reservoir and cause brake fluid loss, with a negative impact on the bike's safety. The same source mentions that the steering damper may also be damaged, too.
Both possible defects which can be triggered by the incorrectly manufactured part may have very serious consequences and Harley-Davidson advises customers to exercise care and have their bikes inspected by authorized technicians.
The recall is expected in late November 2013 and dealers will inspect the trikes and replace the fork stem bracket. Customers can also reach H-D at 1-800-258-2464. Harley-Davidson's recall number is 0152, while the NHTSA campaign number is 13V491000.
