Harley-Davidson is showing the 2014 iteration of the classic retro looks-modern tech Dyna Switchback FLD, a bike whose design and careful trim is deeply rooted in the American bike-making habits of the 60s.
If a classic bike which can easily change shape and purpose between a solo riding-minded cruiser and a two-up touring-worthy machine is your aim, then the 2014 Dyna Switchback FLD is definitely one of the top toys.

The hard saddelbags are finished in the bike's color and just like the mid-sized windscreen, they can go on and off in instants, as the next ride requires. Moving swiftly through the city? Leave them at home and squeeze past the stuck traffic. Planning an overnight trip which includes a highwaly haul? No problem, just load your sidecases, clamp the windshield in place and watch out for speed traps!

The heritage details are making the 2014 Switchbackstand from the crowd: a massive chromed out headlight under the mini apehanger bars, a tanktop-mounted console with a large, easily readable gauge and a valanced front fender to match the rest of the build.

Harking back to another era in motorcycling, the exhaust of the 2014 Dyna Switchback FLD is a chunky, 2-into-1 chrome-laden unit which promises a throaty rumble from one end to the rpm range to the other.

Contrasting with the liberal use of chrome, the cast aluminium 5-spoke wheels show off an elegant black attire. ABS is standard for the 2014 Switchback. Riding on slow uphill winding mountain roads or darting ahead at great velocity on the open highway is equally easy for the new Dyna Switchback FLD: the Twin Cam 103 v-twin engine delivers a top 126 Nm (93lb-ft) at 3,500 rpm, thanks to the Six-Speed Cruise Drive gearbox and precise fuel injection system.

When ready to roll, the 2014 Switchback weighs in at 330 kg (728 lbs), and Harley claims a 5.6 l/100 km (42 mpg) fuel efficiency.
