Already available with five engine options for the 2014 model year, the Ford Fusion mid-size sedan will gain a 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost as well.
According to Ford Inside News, quoting “an internal document”, the 2014 Ford Fusion will be available in North America with the 1.5-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost powerplant that was recently launched on the Ford Mondeo in China. The new engine will also be available in the Mexican-built Fiesta later this year and our source claims it could be introduced on the Escape and Transit Connect models as well.
Ford will continue to offer the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, but will drop the automatic transmission and the Stop-Start system, both of which will become exclusive on the new 1.5-liter-powered vehicles. The 1.6-liter variants will be available with only the six-speed manual gearbox.
Remaining in Fusion news territory, the Blue Oval company will launch a cheaper hybrid version of the four-door sedan under the “S Package” name.
