The fact that the Dodge Dart is being sold in China with a Fiat badge is no longer news, as the Viaggio was unveiled in Asia's most important market more than a year ago. However, Fiat has now confirmed it has new plans for the Viaggio by unveiling a hatchback version of the compact, dubbed Ottimo.
Launched "to meet customers' diverse requirements", the Ottimo sports a slightly restyled front end that still has the Dodge Dart's headlamps, while the rear end received brand new taillights. There's no info on powertrains, but the Ottimo should become available with Viaggio's turbocharged 1.4-liter engine.
"The Ottimo not only satisfy the taste of young customers, but also the best choice of passionate elite, it would become a super star among fashionable sporty middle-class level," said Wang Qiujing, executive deputy general manager of GAC Fiat.
Will Dodge offer a Dart hatchback in the US? Probably not, but we have a feeling some American customers would fancy one.
