We don't often talk about cheap cars, but when we do, we like to be very meticulous about it. Nissan relaunched the Datsun brand earlier today, revealing a small hatchback that will go on sale next year.
The Datsun GO was developed for emerging markets and as a result makes a number of concessions in order to bring costs as low as possible. For instance, the rear quarter glass and alloy wheels are mission, and don't even dare to mention parking sensors or fog lights.

The Datsun Go is 1,635mm wide, 1,485mm tall and 3,785mm long with a wheelbase of 2,450mm. Inside, there's seating for five adults on two benches. Yes, two benches. Because there's no central tunnel and the gear lever is on the dash, the front seats are connected. Like on a van, the head restraints are part of the seats. The air-con vents are from the Micra but the rest of the dash is new. It's not al spartan inside, as a mobile phone docking system will be available. However, the basic design has no display for the radio and no control on the steering wheel.

We've managed to secure live photos of the car from its presentation in India thanks to our friends at indianautosblog.com. Below, you will find interviews Koji Nagano, Datsun Executive Design Director, and Koichiro Okamoto, Datsun Chief Product Specialist. Recently re-elected Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn also has a world to say about his new affordable baby.
