Ruben Faria is the 2013 Dakar runner-up and Cyril Despres' "shadow". He finished under 11 minutes behind the standing champion and did this riding in a lot of pain after injuring one wrist in a crash during stage 3.
Now he's back at almost 100% and is looking confidently ahead to the next South American ordeal, due to kick off on January 5th.
He has been training extensively with Red Bill KTM and is now aiming for a better position in the rally.
However, Marc Coma did not race in 2013, being replaced by the late Kurt Caselli, but Coma is now ready for the fight once more, so Faria's shot at winning his first Dakar will not go unhindered.
Faria looks very happy with the new bike KTM prepared for the 2014 Dakar and says that he's up for a great race. Wonder what's cooking in Yamaha's camp with Despres' machine...
