Stage 10 of the 2014 Dakar saw Honda crossing the finish line in the first and second positions, with Barreda and Rodrigues, respectively. Cyril Despres was third in Stage 10, ahead of Pain and Coma.
Israel Esquerre hit a rock and was unable to restart the bike, being therefore forced to withdraw, bringing Despres one position up the general standings and providing the Frenchman with an unexpected clearer shot at the third step of the final podium, the best he can hope for this year, anyway.
After Stage 10, Despres is 6th in the overall ranking, with Rodrigues only 7 minutes ahead of him. The 2014 Dakar is led by Marc Coma, who has a rather comfortable 44-minute lead over Barreda Bort, and with Jordi Viladoms third, 16 minutes ahead of the big chaser, Despres.
