Stage 13 was a rather short cool-down ride to Valparaiso and the leader Marc Coma (KTM) was keen on getting to the finish line safely. He did not take any risks and ended the stage in the 18th position.
However, with a 1h52m overall lead over his lieutenant Jordi Viladoms, Coma wins the 13th Dakar in a row for KTM and checked his 4th Dakar victory.

Barreda Bort claimed the Stage 13 win, followed by Pain (Yamaha), Honda's Rodrigues and Sherco's Pedrero Garcia, with Despres in 5th, after a 5-minute penalty for speeding through the liaison.

The 2014 Dakar rankings see Coma as the winner, followed for a KTM one-two by Viladoms and with Yamaha's Olivier Pain in third.

Despres had to settle with the 4th positoin, and was followed by Portugal's Rodrigues (Honda), Polish KTM rider Kuba Przygonski. Joan Barreda is 7th, with fellow Honda rider Gouet in the 8th, and Svitko and Casteu topping the top 10 for KTM.

78 riders reached the finish line in Valparaiso out of a total of 196 entries.
