We bet a lot of you wondered what it took for the recently-launched 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to complete a quarter mile run. Well, you’re going to find out soon enough thanks to the guys over at Hennessey Performance.
The Texas-based specialist has already announced plans to develop a number upgraded Corvettes, but, for the time being, they put a stock version of GM’s brand new sportscar on the drag strip. Fitted with an automatic transmission, Hennessey’s C7 completed the 402 in 12.23 seconds at 114 mph (183 km/h). It would probably do better with a manual gearbox, but that doesn’t make the 12-second run less impressive.
As a reminder, Hennessey is readying four packages for the 2014 Corvette, with power ratings ranging from 600 to 1,100 horsepower and prices between $12,495 and $67,950. This means we could be watching a 10-second Corvette by the end of the year.
