When most of the 2014 Corvette Stingray's specs were announced back in April, General Motors promised that its new sportscar will reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standing start in less than four seconds if fitted with the Z51 Performance Package. And it looks like they were right, as a recent test unveiled that the C7 Vette is able accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.8 seconds.
Other figures published by GM today claim that the 2014 Corvette Stingray Z51 completes the quarter mile in 12 seconds at 119 mph (191 km/h), brakes from 60 mph to a halt in just 107 feet (32.6 meters) and sustains 1.03 G when cornering.
"For the new Stingray, we set out to elevate every aspect of the Corvette's performance," said Tadge Juechter, Corvette chief engineer. "Considered alone, the acceleration, braking and cornering performance of the Corvette Stingray is truly impressive. More significant is how well they work together, resulting in a lap time at VIR that places the new Stingray in the upper echelon of all sports cars."
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will go on sale in the US later this year with prices starting at $51,995.
