Since the spy photographers probably don’t follow the same routes as GM’s test crews, they’ve decided to do their own spyshots to keep us in the loop about the new Silverado pickup. It’s kind of amusing to see an automaker going to all the trouble of camouflaging a vehicle only to photograph it themselves, but that’s exactly what happened.
This latest image of the 2014 Silverado was taken while it was undergoing the final testing phases. This includes torture testing to ensure it’s all rock-solid, but engineers are also paying attention to the quality of the ride as the prototype goes round the track surfaces at GM’s Milford Proving Ground.
Chevrolet will have tried to make the Silverado lighter and more economical. New engine options that have been rumored even include a V6 with about 320 horsepower.
This is crew cab Silverado prototype has shed a little bit of camouflage. From the zoomed-in photo we provided, you should be able to tell that not much has changed. Some plastic protectors are bulging out at the bottom to give it a beefy look, but the headlights are split by the same line that goes through the middle of the grille.
Expect to see the full production version of the 2014 Silverado some time next year.
