2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray Exhaust Sound!

Chevrolet has released a walkaround video of the 2014 Corvette, with Tadge Juechter, executive chief engineer, walks us around the 7th generation model that’s on show now at the Detroit Auto Show.

We’ve already done in-depth coverage of the car directly from the floor of the Cobo center, but one crucial element was still missing. The all-important exhaust sound coming from that quad-pipe system.

Preliminary specs suggest the 6.2-liter small block engine produces 450 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. You could get that from a turbocharged 3-liter these days, but the car wouldn’t sound as honest. Hearing those short seconds of V8 grumble, we’re glad Chevrolet didn’t go the turbo route.

The engine itself is a cast aluminum block with two overhead valves per cylinder and direct injection technology.

he 2014 C7 Corvette is available with a dual-mode active that exhaust system offers a 27-percent improvement in airflow. It features two additional valves that open to a lower-restriction path through the mufflers. When open, these valves increase engine performance and produce a more powerful exhaust note.
