The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 has been voted the 2014 North American Truck of the Year at the Detroit Auto Show today. The final was also contested by the Jeep Cherokee and the Acura MDX.
During the same event, the brand new Corvette Stingray was named the 2014 North American Car of the Year, making 2014 the first year when Chevrolet has won both awards. The winners were voted by 49 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada.

“Chevrolet is in the midst of the most aggressive product transformation in the brand’s more than 100-year history,” said Alan Batey, General Motors senior vice president. “The Corvette and Silverado truly embody the passion, commitment and focus that is driving us to deliver the most expressive designs, innovative technologies and engaging performance in every vehicle that wears the bowtie.”

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was introduced last year along with its more luxurious twin, the 2014 GMC Sierra.
