2014 Chevrolet Silverado Commercial: A Woman and Her Truck

“A woman and her truck”... sounds like just another of those rural American movies where horses and trucks are about the only “vehicles” that get to be featured. You know, that get off the horse and into the truck feeling, so to speak.

But it’s only a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado commercial that basically says cowgirls need trucks as well. We agree it’s a bit strange to market a full-size pickup truck to women, but the add seems emotional enough to go the right way.

“This is a story about the bond between a woman, her horse, and the truck that takes them everywhere together. With the best available towing in a full-size pickup, Silverado is strong for all the roads ahead,” says Chevrolet.

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and its GMC Sierra twin are scheduled to arrive in dealerships later this year. When that happens, the pickup truck will be available with a choice of two engines, including a 6.0-liter Vortec V8 that can run on either gasoline or ethanol and a 6.6-liter turbocharged Duramax diesel V8.

The Duramax powerplant will be mated to a llison 1000 six-speed automatic transmission, and when this combo is fitted on the 3500 HD, the workhorse's towing capacity can go as high as 6,690 pound. Moreover, with a fifth-wheel hitch that goes up to 23,200 pounds.

If it's price that bothers you, fret now. We can tell you that the 2015 F-Series Super Duty will fetch at least $31,045, while the 2015 Silverado Heavy Duty will wear a $31,310 sticker.

These price tags will definitely not going to hurt sales, as pickup trucks are sold in the US like shepherd's pies in the UK, and there's always going to be a demand for such rugged vehicles across America. In any case, we'll be able to tell you more about the prickup truck once we get inside and take it for a ride.
