Cadillac has released performance specs for the brand new 2014 ELR, the plug-in coupe that's set to arrive in dealerships in January next year with a price tag starting from $75,000.
As expected, the ELR is similar to the Chevrolet Volt in terms of speed and acceleration, both being able to reach 60 mph from a standing start in 8.8 seconds in EV mode. However, when using the 1.4-liter range extending unit, the ELR gets there faster at 7.8 seconds. In terms of speed, the ELR tops out at 106 mph, 5 miles per hour more when compared to the Volt.
Moving over to range, the Caddy can run 37 miles in EV mode (the Volt can travel 38 miles), while total range drops from 379 miles to 345 miles and combined fuel economy from falls from 37 mpg to 33 mpg.
As a reminder, the 2014 Cadillac ELR is powered by a 16.5 kWh lithium-ion battery which motivates an electric motor that's rated at 207 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque.
