Buick has revealed the updated 2014 Regal in New York, ahead of the car's official debut at the Jacob Javits Convention Center. Like the LaCrosse, which was unveiled yesterday, the Regal gained not only a restyled exterior and a revised interior interior design, but a "new technology infusion" as well.
Probably the most important addition to the new Regal lineup is the all-wheel-drive system, which will be found on all versions except the base eAssist variant. Now more powerful, the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine will be mounted on both the Turbo and the GS models, meaning that the latter actually loses some power with output dropping from 270 HP to 259 HP. However, the Turbo get almost 40 extra horses, as the old unit developed 220 HP.
Designed to have "a more contemporary and premium presence", the 2014 Regal gets signature wing-shaped LED front and tail lights and new chrome accents. In the cabin, Buick's new mid-size luxury sedan will sport a wide range of safety and comfort features, such as Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Alert, Forward Collision Alert, next-generation IntelliLink and Adaptive Cruise Control just to name a few.
"The new 2014 Regal is more expressive, more connected and more technologically advanced," said Tony DiSalle, U.S. vice president of Buick Marketing. "Nearly half of new Regal buyers are conquests who are new to Buick and they represent the youngest median age among the brand's lineup. The new Regal gives those discerning buyers more of the technologically advanced features they want in a modern luxury sedan, all with the style and refinement they expect from Buick."
The new Regal makes its public debut at the New York International Auto Show and goes on sale this fall. Form more information please reffer to the attached press release below.
