The 2014 Buick Regal will go on sale with an upgraded standard turbocharged engine that delivers more power and returns better fuel economy, the Detroit-based company announced today.
The new engine - a Verano-sourced turbo 2.0-liter four-potter - is rated at 259 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, which means the 2014 Regal has 18 percent more power and 13 percent more torque that the model it replaces. The automaker also brags about the 2014 Regal being more powerful than the Acura TSX, Audi A4, Lexus IS 250, Mercedes CLA 250, Volkswagen CC and Volvo S60.

Buick says the new unit (that comes with a six-speed automatic transmission) improves the turbo Regal’s fuel economy by 17 percent, as the 2014 model will return an EPA-estimated 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway.

The new Regal also features an advanced all-wheel-drive system with electronic limited-slip differential and HiPer strut front suspension and next-generation IntelliLink connectivity as standard. More details are available in the official press release below.
