BMW's US division announced today that starting from June this year, the 2014 BMW M6 Convertible, Coupe and Gran Coupe will be be available with a optional manual 6-speed gearbox. In addition, all the future M6 cars will be offering M Carbon Ceramic Brakes.
The new manual gearbox will be a no-cost option on all 3 models and will basically be the same found on the F10 M5. The new manual transmission will also be coming with a new engine management software that automatically matches the engine speeds during downshifts when the Efficient and Sport modes are enable.
Using the SPORT+ mode will cancel this feature. That means that the driver will have to synchronize the downshifts by using the accelerator pedal. This will definitely be a popular choice amongst true BMW fans, mostly because of the extra fun it provides on a race-track.
The M Carbon Brakes will be larger and lighter than the standard brake kit fitted on the M6, saving 19.4 kg (42.8 lb) off the car's weight, improving it's handling while also changing the overall look of the car due to its gold-painted brake calipers.
