2014 BMW M3 Sedan Sounds: Is That a V6 Turbo?

We’ve covered the 2014 BMW M3 sedan before, when we brought you a set of spyshots of the black go-fast 3-Series. However, when we heard that Bimmerpost has managed to find the test vehicle again and has pointed a camera at it, we know it was time for a second look.
Yes folks, this is the first time the new M3 has been heard, and that exhaust burble would indicate that a six-cylinder with plenty of turbo boost is in use. The engine sounds really vicious, like it wants to rule a country of 1.0-liter through tyranny and oppression.

The video also reveals a couple of mid-pipes running symmetrically to the mufflers, which would indicate this is actually a turbocharged V6.

Also, the way it shifts effortlessly through the gears points the finger a a DCT transmission, but the manual should also be offered.

BMW fans are sure to say they won’t buy a BMW V6, but we’ll bite our tongues until get to see the real thing in action. This is one interesting find we’re dealing with thanks to Bimmerpost, and the M3 still sounds like an exciting road rocket.
