The South African labor strikes seem to have a destructive effect on BMW. Besides falling behind on production, last night, the BMW South Africa online configurator showed the details on the upcoming M235i.
Therefore, we now know just what the highly anticipated successor to the 1M Coupe will be capable of. It will be using an N55 engine also, with 326 HP (240 kW) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque, almost the same as the M135i that is currently produced.

Since the engines are similar, the differences will probably be felt through the chassis. The 2 Series model will also be a bit lighter than the 3-door hatch, rated at 1,455 kg (3,207 lbs) for the manual gearbox and 1,470 kg (3,240 lbs) for the automatic.

The most important thing about the new car though is that it will be a bit faster than the M135i. The 0-100 km/h (62 mph) sprint will be done in 4.8 seconds with the top speed probably limited at 250 km/h (122 mph).
