2014 BMW M235i First Drive Review by Autos.ca

Canadians seems to be pretty interested in the M235i despite people calling them ‘too polite’ or ‘not manly enough’ on more than one occasion. Apparently, the new car will be a hit in the North American country, especially judging by what the guys from Autos.ca said about it.

They were invited to Las Vegas to test the new car and, despite comparing it to the iconic 1M Coupe, they were quite pleased with it and its M Performance moniker, no matter how odd that sounded.

According to their review, the 3-liter, 326 HP engine provides plenty of kick, keeping the car planted up to 200 km/h (124 mph) with ease and sending it into a frenzy through corners.

There’s also plenty of grip and the seats will keep you in check, offering a decent amount of lateral support at all times. The brakes have plenty of bite and the car doesn’t move around, not even in the tightest braking situations.

Of course, compared to the full-on 1M Coupe model, the feeling was a bit diluted but on paper, the two are really close both in specs and in performance.

Bottom line, this car does everything it was designed to: it fits perfectly above the usual 2 Series range but it’s not as crazy and uncomfortable as a full M car like the 1M Coupe.
