BMW invested a lot of money in the development of the i brand and some say that the failure of this part of the BMW Group might mean serious trouble for the Bavarians. However, recent reviews seem to confirm what the Germans have been saying all along: you want to own an i3 or an i8.
The guys from Auto Express went down to Amsterdam to test the former and, fortunately for us, even took a camera along to record their opinions on it. Apart from the usual technical stuff you can read here, they also went out and drove it on the streets of the Dutch capital to see what's what.

The car impresses you with its new interior and the materials that are being used in there. Naturally tanned leather, eucalyptus dash trims and recycled plastics make for a great combination, unlike any other BMW you might've encountered.

On the road, thanks to its low centre of gravity, the car feels stable and quick. Sure, the skinny tires (for low energy consumption) don't have a lot of grip but they do get you further down the road.

Talking about range, the real-life tests they did confirm the BMW claims that the car will return 80 to 100 miles on a full battery when in comfort mode so you don't need to worry about that.

Bottom line, the i3 delivers what you were promised and will make you want one as soon as you step inside. That is what sets it apart from its main rivals and what will turn it into a hit.
