It seems like the third generation BMW X5 is so interesting, it caught the attention of Honest John and he set out to test drive its top-ranging diesel both on and off road.
The version he drove was the M50d model, fitted with a 3-liter tri-turbo diesel that makes 381 HP and 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) of torque, an 8-speed automatic gearbox and the xDrive intelligent all-wheel-drive system.

In this mix, the car reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 5.3 seconds and returns a combined fuel consumption of 35.1 mpg (6.7 l/100 km). The kit was also improved over the previous model, the new car coming out with a 10 inch standard navigation screen.

Inside the car, luxury surrounds you and the materials used are of the best quality. Sure, that doesn't come cheap but quality costs and it has been since cars were invented.

John even took the car off road to test its abilities and discovered that the X5 handles itself pretty well, even outside the cozy city streets it's used with. However, let's be honest here, few to no people will actually use the new SAV outside on anything other than asphalt.
