2014 BMW 328i xDrive GT Review by Motor Trend

The 3 Series GT is a new offering from BMW, positioned right between the regular 3 Series Sedan and another model that has a 3 in its nomenclature, the X3.

The guys from Motor Trend took the xDrive 328i model out for a test to find out exactly what it was made for. Whilst the X3 is absolutely useless in areas where it doesn’t snow (like California, for example) and the Sedan is too small for some, the Gran Turismo is perfect.

Sure, you could get the Sport Wagon too but it still falls behind on space in the back, where the GT offers similar headroom as a 5 Series and 7 Series legroom, thanks to its 3 Series LWB chassis (quite the enumeration, right?).

The engine provides plenty of torque and the transmission is perfect around town but could be better on track. I really wouldn’t count that as a downside as this car will be seen on a race track as often as it rains in the desert.

Bottom line, for the purpose it was built for, the 3 Series GT is perfect. It will carry you and your family to anywhere you’d like without having to make compromises on luggage or giving you back pain.
