The upcoming people-carrier from BMW, previewed by the Active Tourer Concept, was filmed on the Nurburgring's Nordschleife testing the chassis dynamics. Watching the video will confirm beyond a doubt that the new car will be FWD.

The UKL platform on which it's based, was also tested by a MINI Cooper, spotted right next to the 1 Series GT at one point in the video. That's not the only thing these two cars share.

They will also be using the same family engine, namely the B38 1.5-liter 3-cylinder turbocharged units and a new 6-speed automatic gearbox that will power the front wheels.

As for a release date, the MINI Cooper will be unveiled in November, most likely at Los Angeles, whilst for the 1 Series GT we'll have to wait just a little bit more, until next year, at the least.
