Audi has announced a brand new member of its RS line of performance car, the RS7 five-door coupe, which is making its debut at the 2013 NAIAS.
The styling might be typically German, but the performance is nothing short of mind-blowing.
First the numbers: 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.9 seconds. That’s as fast as most supercars out there and significantly faster than the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe. The nuclear reactor behind this insane performance is quite compact compared to its rivals.
Mercedes uses a 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 called the M157 in most of its AMG models, while BMW has a 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 for its M cars. But Audi’s answer is just a 4-liter V8. Still, it’s been twin-turbocharged to produce the same 412 kW (560 hp) as its rivals.
Despite having to cary around lots of seats, lots of features and lots of premium leather, the RS7 will run all the way to 305 km/h (189.52 mph) if de-restricted.
