A large executive car that's not a hybrid and gets 38 MPG – are you kidding me? Audi says it's possible with the 2014 model year A6, which is good news if you ask us. Just as diesel becomes more widely available across the UK, not just truck stops, Audi has noticed a huge increase in TDI clean diesel deman.
As a result, the A6 is now available with a 3.0 TDI engine that's good for 240-hp and 428lb-ft torque. Coupled to a standard 8-speed Tiptronic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive, this V6 is responsible for 0 to 60 km/h in 5.5 seconds.
Fuel economy figures are impressive to say the least: 24 city/ 38 highway/ 29 combined MPG. There's a bit of bad news too though, as prices start at a whopping $57,500, costing just a little more than the top-of-the-line A6 Prestige with a 3.0 TFSI engine.
However, equipment is very good in the Premium Plus Package version which includes MMI Navigation, Audi connect with Google Earth mapping, MMI touch that recognizes handwriting, advanced key, Xenon plus headlights, parking system plus, 18-inch.
The 2014 Audi A6 TDI will go on sale in late Summer 2013 and will be joined by similar versions of the A7 and Q5.
