Thanks to our spyshots, we already know that the new Audi A3 Cabrio will differ from the old one, the one based on the second generation hatch. While the outgoing model had a hatchback look, this one will be based on the wheelbase and extended boot design of the A3 Sedan.
This means the body will be 11mm wider and 9mm lower than the A3 Sportback. Scheduled to debut at this year's Frankfurt Auto Show, the A3 rag-top will be a bit like a smaller A5, only with front-wheel drive.
The engine range should include the familiar 1.2, 1.4 and 1.8-liter TFSI petrol engines, as well as two diesels. If you're after a really powerful convertible, we have good news because prototypes have been spotted using the quad exhaust arrangement of the S3, meaning 300 horsepower, quattro and a 2.0-liter turbo engine. Should the 333 hp S5 be worried?
