Alongside the improvements they made on their bikes, it looks like the new livery worked just as well as the machines, as Aprilia is leading the World Superbike championship after the kick-off round at Phillip Island.

Sylvain Guintoli was 3rd in Race 1 and win the second, and leads Kawasaki fellow-countryman Loris Baz 41 points to 31. He also ran the best lap a Phillip Island, a good measure of hos fast the new RSV4 bikes are.

Guintoli's team mate Marco Melandri was second in the first race an finished the second one in the 8th position, and is now 3rd overall.

The livery of the new bikes the two riders seem to enjoy thoroughly is called Silver Fireball and it looks like it has so far brought good fortune to the Aprilia factory, which leads the WSBK board with 45 points, over Kawasaki, 31.
