The recently-unveiled Acura RLX, all-new for the 2014 model-year, has just received its official pricing information for the US market. The car starts at $48,450, plus the $895 destination charge, and is now available for order, with first deliveries commencing after March 15. Spec the car up with everything on the list, though, and you`re looking at a $60,450 price tag.
The RLX will try to woo buyers away from the German brands’ rivals with facts such as the largest rear-seat legroom in the class, as well as the longest tandem seating distance. The features list is predictably extensive, and the RLX gets a 10-speaker audio system, 8-inch sat-nav screen, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, as well as USB and auxiliary input support.

The only engine on offer is a 3.5-liter V6 petrol unit, which pumps out 310 hp and 368 Nm (272 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is capable of returning a combined efficiency rating of 24 mpg combined (31 mpg highway / 20 mpg city). The engine drives the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.

Later this year, the RLX will be offered with Honda`s Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), which keeps the 3.5-liter V6 engine, while adding an electric motor to boost the total power output to 370 hp. Efficiency is, of course, better than the regular model’s, and the hybrid gets a reported 30 mpg combined.
