Designed to preview a production model that will soon be available in the American market, Acura has started teasing a new MDX ahead of its debut at next year’s 2013 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), held in Detroit in mid-January.
The prototype is being heralded as a 2014 model, so most likely the production version will follow by the end of the year. Honda and Acura’s models are usually really close to production form by the time they get to this stage, and the MDX could predict a new design direction for the company.

The basic MDX will probably use the new Earth Dreams V6 from the 2013 Acura. There will also be a hybrid all-wheel drive system mimicking those found in the RLX sedan.

Here’s what Honda has to say so far about their MDX prototype: "Utilizing 'Aero Sculpture' design language affecting both form and function, the 2014 MDX Prototype will feature alluring proportions with smooth, arching body lines matched to an efficient architecture."
