The NHTSA issued a recall campaign for (so far) 128 electric motorcycles manufactured by one onf the leading names in the segment, Zero.
Certain Zero FX and Zero XU machinery have been equipped with batteries sealed with an improper sealant, and in case of extended riding in the wet, or when raining, water could infiltrate into the battery.

Water could in turn, cause corrosion of the cells, sudden increase of temperature and battery electrolyte off-gassing, posing the risk of burn to the riders. Zero mentions they have already started contacting the owners and will schedule a free battery module replacement.

The affected bikes are FX units manufactured January 28, 2013 through May 21, 2013, and 2013 XU manufactured January 16 through May 20.

If you're not sure, on your bike, you can contact Zero Motorcycles at 1-888-786-9376. The NHTSA campaign bears the number 13V257000.
