For 2013, Yamaha carries on the acclaimed heritage of the YZF series, and the new R1 bike gets the latest innovations form the MotoGP series.
The next season brings a 7-level traction control system, increasing performance, reducing wheel spin and complementing the 3-stage D-Mode electronic throttle, thus offering a staggering 21 mappings list for the discerning rider.
YZF-R1 also sports the Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle technology, the manufacturer's proprietary ride-by-wire system ensuring instant response to pilot actions and variable fuel intake for optimal performance.
At the same time, the 2013 YZF-R1 sports the unique and innovative fork system called YHSJ, or Yamaha Hydraulic Systems Japan. The left fork controls the compression damping, while the right one adjusts the rebound damping. Again, a MotoGP feature for the pros.
The 2013 R1 comes with a 454 lbs (205.6 kg) wet weight (all fluids and full tank) and retails for $14,290 (€10,890), in either white-blue racing, Matte Grey or Rapid Red/ Raven color schemes.
