2013 WSBK: Aprilia Dominates the Phillip Island Races

The first stage of the 2013 World SuperBike series was dominated by the Aprilia bikes which placed on 5 out of the 6 podium positions available.

The Phillip Island podium saw three Aprilia riders after Race 1: factory riders Sylvain Guintoli and Eugene Laverty took the first two positions, while Michel Fabrizio of Red Devils Roma came in third, ahead of BMW's Chad Davies and Kawasaky works pilot Tom Sykes. Pata Honda riders Haslam and Rea places 7th and 8th, ahead of Fixi Crescent Suzuki's Leon Camier.

Race 2 had an even faster pace, with the first two riders switching positions, and Fabrizio finishing 4th, replaced by the Goldbet BMW rider Marco Melandri. Aprilia is leading the manufacturers' standings, while the first 5 places in the riders' top are: Laverty, Guintoli, Fabrizio, Sykes and Melandri. Having crashed really hard during the first race, top rider Carlos Checa skipped race 2. Detailed timings after the jump.
