I still remember driving the current generation Passat way back in 2011 when it was brand spanking new. I remember feeling a bit underwhelmed by the design but totally impressed with the stability.
The way it's designed, the 2013 Passat is almost like it was born an old man with no sense of humor. The advantage of that is it doesn't look dated as the years pass and the resale values are good. There's also a new one on the way, which might explain why VW USA are pushing this thing so aggressively.
Making fun of its own customers, the latest commercial portrays the suburban dad who won't stop talking about his brand new 2013 Passat, which he supposedly got a great deal on. While the Passat might not be the best car in the world, it is for this guy, and we know where he's coming from.
One thing we'd note is everybody in the comment section seems to genuinely like the Passat, but hate that it doesn't come with bi-xenon headlights.
