We enjoyed VW's new commercials for the GTD version of the Golf so much that we asked ourselves what it would be like to actually own one.
The US will have to wait at least a year before getting to buy a diesel hot hatch like this.
The first video below is a walkaround from a dealership, filmed just two weeks ago when the car was brand new. It shows the new GTD in Carbon Steel Grey. As you can see, it's a little different from the Golf GTI in that the red on the grille is gone and the wheels have another design.
The other video is an acceleration run from o to 100 km/h. In real life, the super-diesel is even faster than the claimed 7.5 seconds.
On balance, it seems like an awesome all-rounder, but it does look a little boring. Nothing a new set of wheels can't fix.
