Sadly, the new Toyota Corolla is not offered with a hybrid powertrain, but the slightly bigger Camry can be had with a gasoline-electric plant if you are into low emissions and fuel consumption.
Automoblog tested the 2013 Camry XLE Hybrid, which is rated at 40 mpg in the city and 39 on highway.

For $27,670, the Camry XLE Hybrid comes with features like leather-wrapped steering wheel and shifter, wood trimmings, rear air outlets, power moonroof, foglamps, heated electric mirrors, chrome trims and 17-inch alloy wheels.

The Camry Hybrid uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson-cycle engine aided by an electric engine, totaling 200 hp, mated to a CVT that sends the power to the front wheels.
