2013 Shelby GT500 Launch Control Explained

The 2013 Shelby GT500 is one of the craziest machines you can buy without spending a fortune today, but with 650 hp on the rear axle, people want to know if the extreme ‘Stang can handle all that power.
The Blue Oval is keen to show that it can, with the company recently releasing a video that showcases the car’s new Launch Control function. The driver can set up an RPM limit and then it can use the system to get the perfect launch off the line. Once you’ve set the limit, you can push the throttle to the floor and it will launch when you lift the clutch. Ford explains that skilled drivers can use the launch control until they master a track and then they can turn it off if they want to.

Our say: this might seem like too much fuss over a launch control function, but if you consider the price (around $55k) of the car, it does become amazing.
