Mercedes Benz USA has announced the on-sale date for the new SL-Class. The all-aluminum roadster from Germany will arrive in May, but only one version will be available: the SL550.
This is basically the same car as the European SL500, powered by the same 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8. Soon after that, the more powerful SL63 AMG will be launched, and maybe even the rumored SL65 AMG, which is expected to feature a V12.
Getting back to the SL550, this is going to be available from $106,375 including destination. For this you get a brand new car, with a chassis and body built mainly from aluminum to save weight, and powered by the 4.7-liter twin-turbo V8, rated at 429 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque.
The car also comes with Mercedes’ Comand infotainment system, an automated roof plus the Attention Assist and Adaptive Brake safety systems.
