2013 PPIHC: Carlin Dunne Is the Fastest Rider in the Tire Test

Now that the Pikes Peak race takes place on fully-paved roads, we just know times are in a free fall, while glory is soaring. It's the case of Carlin Dunne and his "Flying Banana" Lightning electric race bike.

Carlin Dunne Is the Fastest Rider in the Tire Test
The riders entered in the 2013 Pike Peak International Hill Climb event went through a two-day tire test during the last weekend. The course was split in two, with each of the sections being raced on separately: the faster, bottom segment test were carried out on Saturday, while the riders got access to the upper sector on Sunday.

With Dunne holding the outright course record for motorcycles with his 9m52s819 time in 2012, the combined times for the two sections on an electric machine is lower than his gas-powered Ducati Multistrada 1200 record.

Dunne rode 4m34s03 on the first section and 5m04s40 on the upper one, summing up to a very neat 9m38s43, lower even than the last year's Rhys Millen outright course record of 9m46s164 in the Time Attack class on his Hyundai.

So it's going to be all eyes on the electric race at the 2013 PPIHC at Cascade, Colorado, June 24-30. Via Asphalt&Rubber.
