The Porsche 911 GT3 has always been known as a racecar for the road and one of the key elements of its heritage is its manual gearbox. Well. it seems that all this is about to change and thus we might not get a manual anymore.
According to Inside Line, Porsche is currently evaluating both the PDK double-clutch transmission and the seven-speed manual and only one will make it into production. The GT3 isn't far from hitting the market, so a decision should be taken soon.
August Achleitner, the head of the 911 project told the aforementioned source that he expects the PDK to win, as stick shifts can only be found on 30 percent of 911s. However, the situation might be different in the US, where there’s a higher demand for manuals and thus the new GT3 could come with such a box here.
