The previous generation of BMW M cars was a scary looking bunch of monsters. The M5, for example, looked like it wanted to stab you, while the parrot face on the M6 was scary to most small, furry creatures.
After the dusk of the Bangle era, BMW went back to making more subtle M cars, without the beaks, bulges and fat chins. But somehow, one managed to quietly slip by. The M6 Gran Coupe enjoyed its American premiere at the 2013 NAIAS recently, and the impression we got from the Detroit event was that the car was made of some sort of rock, like it was built to pummel its enemies into submission.
The frozen beauty is no less impressive as a driver’s tool. Powered by the same S63 Tu engine, a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8, it’s been reported to do 0 to 60 mph in 4 seconds. Of course, having 560 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque will do that for you.
