Pramac Ducati Team Manager Francesco Guidotti announced the new replacement rider for Ben Spies, still recovering after multiple injuries and a double shoulder surgery. His substitute until he is able to ride again is Colombian rider Yonny Hernandez, until last Sunday a Paul Bird Motorsport (PBM) MotoGP rider.
The Misano round was the last time when Ducati's test rider Michele Pirro could substitute for Spies, but he has scheduled tests with Ducati which make his presence at Aragon and other non-European rounds impossible, as we told you earlier.

Guidotti said that an agreement was reached with Paul Bird's team and they will "lend" Hernandez to Pramac Ducati, and the Colombian will be a part of the Italian team until Ben Spies becomes available once more.

According to Guidotti, it was Hernandez who approached Pramac Ducati, knowing that they have no replacement for Spies for the remainder of the 2013 season or until Spies is back in full health.

Yonny Hernandez and Pramac Ducati are already running tests at Misano this Monday. Francesco Guidotti added: "The test is not just a test; it is to prepare him to arrive in Aragon with some experience on our bike.”

Hernandez sits in the 20th position in the world standing with 7 points, 2 points and 2 positions down on Ben Spies, and at a hefty 41-point distance from Spies replacement Pirro in the 12th position.

It appears like Hernandez' next 2 weeks are going to be really demanding as he throws a leg over Ducati satellite machinery, a completely different bike from the one he used to ride.
