2013 MotoGP: Michele Pirro Unable to Substitute for Ben Spies after Misano

More trouble looms over the Pramac Ducati team, as it looks like Michele Pirro, Ducati's test rider will only be able to substitute for the injured Ben Spies at Misano.

Team Pramac Ducati Francesco Guidotti declared that it will be impossible for Pirro to substitute for Ben Spies after the San Marino round as he has important tests scheduled for Ducati. Guidotti made it very clear that Pirro will not be riding the GP13 prototype at Aragon and the next three non-European rounds: Malaysia, Australia and Japan. The team is looking for other substitutes, but no riders have been named so far.

Motograndprix asked Guidotti the obvious question: is a "divorce" possible? The answer was quick and conclusive, as Francesco Guidotti made it clear that Pramac Ducati has a two-bike racing program and Spies has a 2-year contract with the team, with no signs of either side to be willing to cancel the relationship. "However, we need to wait to see how Spies' recovery evolves, and only then could we make any decisions," Guidotti added.

We remind you that Ben Spies had two surgeries at both his shoulders following a crash in FP3 at Indianapolis. On the brighter side, Michele Pirro was 7th in FP2 at Misano and we're looking forward to see how the race will actually be for him.
