Andrea Iannone's surgery went alright and now he's recovering for the next MotoGP round in France, at Le Mans, in less than two weeks' time.
Iannone flew to Barcelona, Spain, after the race at Jerez, for a surgery to fix his arm and knee muscles. He has problems in his right arm from the season kick-off race in Qatar, and had Doctor Mir, one of the best-known medical professionals in MotoGP, fix him at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona.
While the prognosis is very optimistic, the Ducati rider is still kept under medical surveillance. Iannone told GPOne.com that Dr. Mir was amazed as he first saw the condition of his muscle, but things were mended for both his hand and knee.
The healing of the incision made for the surgery is now the most important factor for Iannone's recovery, and his stitches will only be removed before the race at Le Mans. Iannone was Pramac Ducati's only rider in the recent race at Jerez, but he did not finish as he crashed in lap 24.
His team mate Ben Spies is recovering and will miss the French round, being replaced by Michele Pirro, the Ducati Factory test rider.
